Várdy Béla székfoglaló előadás

A szervezők szeretettel invitálnak minden érdeklődőt Várdy Béla, az MTA külső tagja május 17-i (kedd) székfoglaló előadására. Várdy Béla történész professzor az amerikai magyar kivándorlás történetének legavatottabb kutatója,  az amerikai magyarok  egyik vezető közéleti személyisége, két tucatnyi kötet és több mint 600 tanulmány, újságcikk szerzője, szerkesztője, számos rangos magyar és nemzetközi szakmai szervezet tagja, kitüntetések birtokosa.

Steven Béla Várdy is the author, co-author or co-editor of nearly two dozen books and around six-hundred articles, essays, reviews and newspaper articles. Many of his works are co-authored or co-edited with his wife, Agnes Huszár Várdy. He is an invited member of the International P.E.N., the Árpád Academy, the International Association of Hungarian Studies, the Hungarian Writers’ Federation, World Federation of Hungarian Historians, International Association of Hungarian Language and Culture, American Hungarian Studies Association, and general member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Professor Várdy is the recipient of Duquesne University’s “Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarship” (1984), Hungary’s “Berzsenyi-Prize” (1992), the Árpád Academy’s “Gold Medal” (1997), a Festschrift edited in his honor by his former students (2000), the “Officer’s Cross” awarded by the President of the Republic of Hungary (2001), the Rákóczi Foundation’s “Pro Libertate” Diploma (2005), the Hungarian Revolutionary Committee’s Gold Medal (2006), and a Honorary Doctorate by the King Louis the Great University of Hungary.
